IMPORTANT NOTE: Our boxing coaches primary location is at Meshakwad Community Center, therefore boxing club times will vary dependent on their availability to be at the DI Community Aquatic & Fitness Center location.

Training and Boxing Fitness (Ages 10 – Adult)

  • Daily 7am - 7pm upon request.

  • Gloves must be checked out by fitness coordinator or front desk personnel.

  • No unsupervised boxing is permissible without a coach present.

  • No ring use without a coach present.

The District I Community Aquatic & Fitness Center Boxing Club is now teaching youth, teens, and adults how to discipline yourself, defend yourself, and push yourself further while having fun and learning how the technique and sportsmanship of boxing guides you to new levels of fitness and personal achievement! We coach and train both amateur and professional fighters of all skill levels and weight classes.

The District I Community Aquatic & Fitness Center Boxing Club is officially certified through USA Boxing for Competition, Training, and Boxing Fitness (Non-Contact). All of our coaches are USA Boxing Certified and Trained, and have years of experience in boxing as amateur and professional.


The District I Community Aquatic & Fitness Center Boxing Club follows and adheres to all COVID-19 guidelines as set forth by the MN Department of Health and the CDC.


Rules

  • No unsupervised boxing is permissible without a coach present.

  • No ring use without a coach present.

  • No person to person contact without a coach present.

  • Gloves must be checked out by fitness coordinator or front desk personnel.

  • No horseplay or impermissible use of the boxing equipment.


Meet the Coaches

  • Ryan O'Brien

    Head Coach

    Ryan O’Brien is locally grown in Hinckley, MN, and is currently the Vice President of Operations for Grand Casino Hinckley and Head Coach for the District I Aquatic & Fitness Center Boxing Club. Ryan has coached youth and adults in boxing for many years. Ryan always welcomes challenges and loves to motivate and push anyone to accomplish their goals and give them the tools and opportunities to achieve their dreams. Ryan looks forward to sharing his training knowledge and experience with boxers of all ages.

  • Tim Taggart Jr.

    Assistant Head Coach

    Tim Taggart Jr. is currently the Security Team Shift Leader for Grand Casino Hinckley and Fitness Coordinator for Meshakwad Community Center. Tim started in amateur boxing at age 5 at his dad’s (Tim Taggart Sr.) gym in Pine Ridge Reservation. Tim eventually moved to Minnesota, where he started boxing with the Lake Lena Boxing Club. During his time at Lake Lena Boxing Club, he went to many different national tournaments, including Silver Gloves, Junior Olympics, and NIAA. At the age of 19, he started his career as a professional fighter, and had his first professional fight in October of 2007. He has traveled to many different gyms, from Hinckley to Duluth and even Miami. Tim is excited to start coaching boxing to all ages and share his wealth of knowledge and experience.

    Tim is a USA Boxing Certified Coach & Trainer.
